502 PF Viscosity Reductor - Gelling reducer for Excalibur plastisol inks.

Adding limited amounts of 502 PF Viscosity Reducer makes designs on light-colored shirts appear to have been printed with water-based inks.

Viscosity Redycer reduces opacity and increases the amount of ink needed for printing. It can also be used with 841 plastisol transfer adhesive in emulsion.

Because 502 PF Viscosity Reductor may hinder the curing process, caution must be exercised and the following recommendations must be followed:

Always mix the ink thoroughly before adding it to the screen to break up any lumps that may have accumulated during storage. This should always be done before adding 502 PF Viscosity Reductor to any ink.  If you use a paint mixing paddle
with a drill, always set the drill to rotate at low speed to prevent heat caused by friction from accumulating in the ink. Introducing heat into the ink will start the gelling process and make the ink difficult to use

Adding too much 502 PF Viscosity Reductor will affect the ink’s curing characteristics, requiring not only a higher temperature but also a longer dwell time in the drying tunnel for the ink to achieve full cure. For this reason, DO NOT add more than 3-5% of this product to any ink, and always test the finished print for proper curing before starting each production run.

Adding too much 502 PF Viscosity Reducer will reduce opacity, especially when printing high-density inks (high-opacity inks) on dark substrates. For this reason, the best results are achieved by adding no more than 1-2% of 502 PF to each high-opacity ink.

Adding too much 502PF reduces the durability of the finished print layer and may also cause the fabric fibers to show through the ink layer, making the print appear faded.  This phenomenon may also look like insufficient curing of the print.

To determine whether the print is overly reduced or insufficiently cured, simply wipe the print with a damp cloth. If the colors darken and appear stronger or more vivid, this means that the fibers are showing through the ink layer. If the print looks the same after wiping, it is insufficiently cured and must be heated longer in the conveyor dryer.
