What is DTF printing?

Direct-to-film is a method for fast, inexpensive and simple production of the highest quality prints on garments. The printer applies ink to a transparent PET film. The printed film is then coated with a special adhesive powder. The prepared material goes into an oven, where the adhesive melts and bonds with the ink. After cooling, the print is ready for application. The best professional devices on the market - such as Zodiac IntelliJet - allow the entire process to be carried out using a single device, without operator intervention.

The main advantages of DTF printing compared to screen printing and solvent printing include:

• greater print durability and better resistance to mechanical damage caused during washing

Zodiac IntelliJet has been equipped with several systems that help extend the lifespan of the printheads and ensure that prints do not lose their quality:

- Automatic cleaning:

no additional equipment is required to clean the printheads, and you will not get your hands dirty. Simply press one button and the printer will take care of it automatically.

- Maintaining constant humidity:

during breaks in printing, the printheads stop in a specially designed station that maintains their humidity and prevents the ink from drying out.

- Constant white ink circulation:

ensuring proper white ink flow does not end at the printhead. The ink supply system is equipped with a circulation pump that prevents the white ink from drying in the tubes and tank.

- Two exhaust filters:

ensuring that the printer can be freely installed in an enclosed room. No more need to build an exhaust extraction system. Zodiac IntelliJet is equipped with two effective pollution filters, allowing it to be installed even in an office. Simply replace the filters once every few months and the air around the printer will remain fresh and safe for your health.

- Closed hot air circulation:

before the filtered air leaves the oven, it also contributes to the energy efficiency of the device. This part of the production line has been designed to release almost no heat outside. The oven has a closed hot air circulation system, which allows it to maintain temperature much more effectively and reduce electricity consumption by up to 30%. Zodiac IntelliJet therefore takes care not only of the air quality in the print shop, but also of the temperature inside it. Ergonomics is the key to efficient operation in print shops that do not have large production spaces at their disposal.

- Powder heating in the tank:

The middle section of the production line has also been equipped with important improvements. The powder shaker has a built-in heated powder tank that removes all moisture from the powder before the adhesive is applied to the print. This increases the quality and durability of the application and also prevents the powder from clumping inside the tank.

- Optional automatic powder circulation:

An optional version is also available with a powder shaker that automatically transfers powder from the bottom of the tank back to the top. In the standard version, adhesive powder residue that has already passed over the print falls to the bottom of the tank and needs to be manually poured back to the top from time to time. The powder shaker with automatic powder circulation does this for us, reducing the need for device operation to an absolute minimum.

- Convenient controller:

the production process is controlled via a touchscreen display. Print speed, colour saturation, and even the vibration frequency of the powder shaker are just the beginning of the settings that can be customised using the controller. Zodiac IntelliJet allows the operator to keep everything under control.

- Modern design, compact size:

although the entire system is a professional DTF printing line, it does not take up as much space as most printers available on the market. Zodiac IntelliJet is equipment designed to perform well in all conditions. If you are just starting production and do not have room for large-scale equipment, this is an option for you. If you need efficient large-scale production, printers in higher configurations will meet your requirements.
